The sign identifying the collaboration between Conservas Antonio Pérez Lafuente, the University of Vigo, and the András Community of Montes has been installed to preserve and study a 16-hectare native broadleaf forest in the parish of András, Vilanova de Arousa.

This alliance is part of the Ancient Atlantic Forest Network, an initiative that promotes the protection of mature forest areas and their applied research.
The agreement, with a five-year duration, includes co-financing by Conservas Antonio Pérez Lafuente of conservation, monitoring, and scientific dissemination work, with the G3 Governance Observatory of the University of Vigo as the driving and technical advisory team.

The goal is to preserve and enhance this natural heritage — where oak, chestnut, and birch are the predominant species — strengthening its role as a carbon sink and as a living classroom for the community.
According to technical estimates from the Community of Montes, this forest acts as a “forest lung” capable of retaining around 120 tons of CO₂ per year, providing climate and biodiversity benefits at a local scale.

For Conservas Antonio Pérez Lafuente, this collaboration connects with our history of certified sustainability and our deep roots in our ria: we take care of the sea and also of the forest that surrounds us.

In recent years, our brands have been recognized for their responsible processes and their commitment to sustainable raw materials.

The Ancient Atlantic Forest Network continues to grow in Arousa and its surroundings, adding new hectares and stewardship alliances coordinated by the promoting team linked to UVigo. Our commitment is to ensure that this progress continues, with measurable results in conservation and in the generation of open knowledge.
