The sign identifying the collaboration between Conservas Antonio P\u00e9rez Lafuente, the University of Vigo, and the Andr\u00e1s Community of Montes has been installed to preserve and study a 16-hectare native broadleaf forest<\/strong> in the parish of Andr\u00e1s, Vilanova de Arousa.
\nThis alliance is part of the Ancient Atlantic Forest Network<\/strong>, an initiative that promotes the protection of mature forest areas and their applied research.
\nThe agreement, with a five-year duration<\/strong>, includes co-financing by Conservas Antonio P\u00e9rez Lafuente of conservation, monitoring, and scientific dissemination work, with the G3 Governance Observatory of the University of Vigo<\/strong> as the driving and technical advisory team.
\nThe goal is to preserve<\/strong> and enhance this natural heritage \u2014 where oak, chestnut, and birch<\/strong> are the predominant species \u2014 strengthening its role as a carbon sink<\/strong> and as a living classroom for the community.
\nAccording to technical estimates from the Community of Montes, this forest acts as a \u201cforest lung\u201d capable of retaining around 120 tons of CO\u2082 per year<\/strong>, providing climate and biodiversity benefits at a local scale.
